[2003-03-25] Password Corral v4.0 Beta 1 Released

It's been a long time, but the first beta release of Password Corral 4.0 is now available for download.

All of the basics you need for day-to-day use are in this first beta release, including grouping, copying, cutting, pasting and moving passwords. Import and export functions are also in there as well as a feature to migrate your existing Password Corral 3.x data over. You can also change your master password and switch the encryption type using the new Account Properties screen.

All that said, you are HIGHLY ENCOURAGED to continue running the current released version of Password Corral along side this beta. Since this is the first beta release, there are bound to be bugs, and there's always the possibility that a particularly nasty one will rear its head which could cause data loss. At the very least, make sure you have a current export of your Password Corral 3.x data before using this beta, and put the export file in a safe place in case it's needed. The beta feels stable, but beta releases being what they are, use it at your own risk.

With that out of the way, you intrepid individuals that decide to test drive the beta need to REPORT BUGS if you find them. I'm only one man on this side, and I've tried to make sure this beta is stable, but I won't be able to catch everything, so please report any bugs you find. Most important are the import and export features. This is where the most damage can be done if there's a bug in the code. Whenever possible, check the integrity of your data after doing an import to make sure that it came in okay and was updated correctly. Import and export need the most testing, so please use the features and report any problems. Use the on-line bug report screen to report problems. Make sure to include a valid e-mail address so that I can reply for follow-ups if need be.

Next up will be beta 2, in which I hope to have most of the existing options found in the current released version of Password Corral implemented. After that will be adding in some new things, like a random password generator and more advanced handling of expired passwords. Until then, enjoy this beta release, and remember to report any bugs you find!

Thanks to everyone for your continued support.
