Ive heard a slight difference in how parts of the riff were being played so I disected it into 2 differnt wavs and the differnce with was obvious! The entire riff is way more complex than any of us had thought. I find the guitar is very clear on the left channel. The position is definitely correct and is done because this is now revealed to be purposeful for the different slides to kinda bind it into the next riff which is the sliding E chord after the pick slide, after the intro riff, IMO. Alex plays it this way on the studio version as well as I've seen him play it live on the RTB tour medley many times cause I was right there up close & it's on several boot vids of mine.
