StatBar Console v1.1.5.43 - Release Date: 11/13/2000 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- StatBar Console displays free System, User and GDI resources as well as CPU load and free drive space in a DOS box. StatBar Console's output can be sent to a log file as well. The program is freeware and available at no cost to anyone. Note that StatBar Console IS NOT public domain software. See the legal section for information and restrictions on it's distribution. StatBar Console is StatBar 97 without all the bells and whistles, and for that matter, without the GUI interface. It's a true 32-bit Windows 95 application, but runs in a DOS box, also know as a console window. Note that you must be running Windows for StatBar Console to start. The program cannot run in DOS compatibility mode. Also note that StatBar Console runs under Windows NT, but only the PageFile and free disk space measurements are available for that platform. A future version of StatBar Console may offer additional stats displayable under NT. Installation\Uninstallation: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Extract the files from the ZIP archive into any directory and you're ready to go. The two included DLL's can be placed in the WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory or left in the same directory as the executable. To remove StatBar Console from your system just delete the files that came in the ZIP archive. StatBar Console doesn't make any modifications to the system registry. Usage Information: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- System, User, GDI: These stats represent the free percentages of the main resource heaps used by Windows 95. In general, the more programs you open, and the more controls, buttons, graphics, etc., the lower the percentages will get. Once they start to hit 25% or less, you should consider closing one or more applications. CPU: This is the load the CPU is currently under. The higher the number, the more work the CPU is doing. PageFile: The percentage of available space in the paging file. Windows uses the paging file in conjunction with virtual memory. Disk (x): The amount of available space on the selected disk drive. Displayed in free megabytes. Drives over 2Gb are supported. StatBar Console Command Line Switches: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- /C = Run Continuously. Use this switch to have StatBar Console continue displaying information until CTRL+C is pressed. /D: = Update Delay. Use this switch to change how frequently StatBar Console updates it's measurements. Valid range is between 1 and 5000. Example: /D:500 /L: = Output to file. Use this switch to send StatBar Console's output to a file. Example: /L:C:\TEMP\OUTPUT.TXT /M: = Monitor Disk Free Space. Use this switch to monitor the free disk space for up to two drives. Example: /M:CD (monitors the C: and D: drives) /? = Help. Display information on command line switches used with StatBar Console.
